Biography

Associate Professor Jo Lindsay is convenor of the Sociology and Gender Studies programs. Jo is in the Sociology discipline in the School of Political and Social Inquiry (PSI).

Jo Lindsay is President of The Australian Sociological Association (TASA) 2011-2013.

 

 

Jo Lindsay specialises in the sociology of families, youth and health. Her research interests include families and consumption, gender relations, health inequalities, youth transitions and social change. The social dynamics of water use is a new field of research she is undertaking.

In the youth field Jo has undertaken major research projects on young people and alcohol consumption, young workers and health risks in their social lives, sexual health knowledge and practices. In the families field Jo has undertaken research on unmarried cohabitation, lesbian families and work/life balance for workers in the nursing and construction industries.
