Biography

Jillian is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences at Monash University.  Her teaching and research focuses on the neurobiology and behaviour of mood disorder and substance abuse.

Jillian's research explores the intersections between mood disorder, drug addiction, behaviour and neuroendocrinology.  Jillian heads the Behavioural and Psychopharmacology Lab, which she established after her appointment at Monash in 2005.  In her most recent publications, she has reported the antidepressant- and anxiolytic-like effects of oxytocin and vasopressin ligands in the rat, as well as measuring the contribution that oxytocin makes to effects experienced after taking the recreational drug, MDMA ('ecstasy').  Jillian has also co-authored research that explores how prior exposure to ecstasy affects endocrine and sleep function in humans.
