Dr Carlo Kopp - Researcher Profile

Biography

I am a part time Computer Science Lecturer at the Monash University Clayton School of Information Technology (formerly the Department of Computer Science).

I have considerable prior industry experience in design and development positions, including the development of high performance embedded code, and the design of SPARC architecture computer motherboards.

My primary research activities at ClSIT are currently in the areas of Networking and Radio Frequency Propagation, Radar Signature Modelling, Exponential Growth effects, Information Theoretical foundations of Information Warfare and Strategy.

I am an Associate Fellow of the  American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a Senior Member of the Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and a Member of the Association of Old Crows.

Research & Supervision Interests

Dr Kopp's current research interests in the science and engineering domains include the information theory underpinning information warfare (the four canonical strategies of information warfare), the evolutionary impact of information warfare, mobile ad hoc and survivable networking, network integration of satellite navigation systems, systems survivability especially in relation to electromagnetic weapons, radar performance and signature modelling. He has authored or co-authored to date four book chapters, seventeen refereed journal papers and  thirty conference papers,  one of which received a best paper award.
