Biography

I am Phan Le Ha (also known as Ha Phan or Le Ha Phan), a Senior Lecturer in Culture and Pedagogy at the Faculty of Education Monash University. I also hold honorary positions at universities in Vietnam. Recently I have been appointed Visiting professorship at the University of Reading, UK. In this appointment, I am affiliated with the Institute of Education.

I am a member of three Faculty Research Groups, Cultural Sociology of Education; Globalisation and Social Innovation in Education; and Language Literacy and Education. I have been a visiting academic at universities in the US, UK, Spain and Vietnam.

I have been developing the Engaging with Vietnam Initiative over the past years. This Initiative has brought together scholars, researchers, policy makers, diplomatic officials and the general public to collaboratively engage with knowledge production and scholarship building beyond the Western world. Annual scholarly conferences are a major part of the Initiative. Http://www.engagingwithvietnam.com

I am one of the two convenors for the Disruptive Notions Seminar Series, run by the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), Monash University.

Currently I am working on two major research projects in the area of transnational education and intellectual engagement beyond East-West dialogues in the context of mobility, transnationality and globalisation.

I am also one of the three project leaders of a major funded ALTC grant for the project "TKNe: A transnational knowledge network in education that facilitates internationalisation". The funding is for 2011 and 2012 and the project involves eight Australian universities ($220,000).
