Melissa brings 15 years of clinical experience to her role at Monash University. Melissa's primary research interests relate to end of life care, death and dying in the acute care setting. Melissa is particularly interested in how nurses manage death and dying in the clinical setting, caring for the dying patient and their family/loved ones.
Melissa is funded by three scholarships which enable her to complete here PhD on a full time basis. Her PhD research aims to explore how nurses recognize that a patient is dying and then how nurses respond to the dying patient in the acute hospital setting, where the goal of care is cure and resuscitation.
