Biography

 Muhammad Akram joined biostatistics unit at DEPM in July 2009. In his current role he is conducting research, providing statistical consulting and teaching for the biostatistics unit. He holds PhD degree in Statistics from Monash University and M.Phil, M.Sc. and B.Sc.(Hons) in Statistics from the University of Karachi. Previously he worked as a research-fellow at the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics, Monash University.

Akram's current research is focused in the development of statistical methods for a short interrupted time-series and their real life applications. His research interest includes time-series modelling and forecasting, multiple testing of econometrics models, statistical computing and application of time-series in health sciences.

Akram has published ten papers in leading peer reviewed journals, a book chapter and four minimal refereeing conference papers on statistical topics.

He has also jointly worked on several consulting projects for clients in Australia from his formal position. His clients include GlaxoSmithKline, National Prescribing Services Limited, Department of Health and Ageing and InvestorWeb Limited.

Akram also got vast experience in teaching. Since 2002 he taught six units (undergraduate/postgraduate) for Monash University for different faculties.

Akram is a member of the Statistical Society of Australia Inc (Victorian Branch).
