Biography

Professor Kneebone is a leading internationally renowned scholar on issues of forced migration, human trafficking and refugee law. Professor Kneebone has taken a leading role in introducing research on refugee law and human trafficking issues into her faculty. She supervises a number of postgraduate students in these fields.

Since 2003 Professor Kneebone has been a member of the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM) and has taken an active role in four conferences, including presenting papers (at both plenary and workshop sessions) and chairing sessions. She is currently Communication Officer for IASFM.

Professor Kneebone teaches Forced Migration and Human Rights, International Refugee Law and Practice, and Citizenship and Migration Law. She has organized several conferences and workshops on these issues, made submission to many public enquiries and frequently handles media enquiries. She is the author of many articles on these issues and author/editor of the following books:

She has received over $375,000 in external funding since 2009 . She is currently a Chief Investigator on two Australian Research Council projects:

  • Delivering Effective Protection to Victims and Prevention of Human Trafficking in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region (Linkage Grant 2009 - sole Chief Investigator)
  • Law, Governance and Regulation of Intra-regional Labour Migration in South East Asia: An Agenda for Protection and Development (Discovery Grant 2009 - sole Chief Investigator).
