Biography

Fabrizio is a Research Fellow, investigating natural resource management under changing climate conditions, particularly in Indonesia. He was previously a Research Fellow at the School of Geography and Environmental Science (Monash University), where his research has focused on the effects of climate change on the growth and health of silver fir in the Tuscan Apennine Alps (middle Italy), and the environmental causes of rot butt in silver fir under climate change. Since 2011, he has been a convener at the General Assembly of the European Geoscience Union (EGU) in Vienna, a scientific event that attracts more than 10,000 researchers, scientists and academics worldwide. Fabrizio's sessions relate to climate change and carbon cycle, health, growth, and shift of forests, and sustainable management.

Fabrizio's sessions relate to climate change and carbon cycle, health, growth, and shift of forests, and sustainable management. He has also been a consultant with the Italian National Institute of Agricultural Economics (INEA), where he contributed significantly to the guidelines for the management of the Italian forests under changing climate conditions. He was the only researcher from a non-European university involved in the development of these guidelines. His previous work has focused on environmental impact assessments (i.e. fast train line, middle Italy) and climate trends on forest and water resources (Mugello Valley; Pienza (SI); Gaiole in Chianti (SI); Reggello (FI); Loro Ciuffenna (AR)); sustainable forest management (Mugello Valley and the Apennine Alps); forest environment indicators; forest population dynamics; and farm forestry (Australia). He has had a long-term appointment as a member of a university team (Firenze) to assess the environmental impact of the new Fast Train Line on water resources, ecosystems, and economy in Tuscany, of which expertise is developed in a book chapter about environmental leadership. His most important works are published at the international level.

Research & Supervision Interests

Fabrizio is interested in the effects of climate change on forest growth, health, and dynamics. Sustainable forest and land management under changing climate conditions for biodiversity conservation, poverty reduction, and applied environmental economics are also a main interest. Fabrizio's other reseach interests focus on environmental impact evaluation.
