Richard works in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing & Health Sciences at Monash University as a Research Fellow and is based at the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre (MAPrc) which is part of the Central Clinical School. His research began in the motor control field, primarily using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to examine cognitive influences (such as attention) on motor behaviour. Richard's research focus is now focused in biological psychiatry, specifically in the physiological responses to TMS, and uses a wide range of tools such as MRI, EEG, and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS).
