Biography

Amanda is a NHMRC Peter Doherty Research Fellow in the Transfusion Research Unit, operating within the Critical Care Division at the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Monash University. Amanda has a PhD in Cardiovascular physiology & pathophysiology and trained both in Australia and overseas. In February 2009, Amanda transitioned from laboratory based research into clinical research. She was appointed Project Manager of the Australian and New Zealand Haemostasis Registry which collected data on the administration of activated recombinant factor VII for treatment against critical bleeding in patients. More recently, Amanda is establishing a Massive Transfusion Registry (MTR) in Australia and New Zealand with the support of Transfusion Outcomes Research Collaborative, which is a partnership between the Blood Service and Monash University and with an educational grant from CSL Biotherapies. The aim of the registry is to collect data on the incidence, clinical contexts and outcomes of critical bleeding events that require a massive transfusion.
