Dr Simon Royce - Researcher Profile

Biography

Simon is a Research Fellow in the Fibrosis Laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology. He is also a Honorary Fellow of the Departments of Pathology and Paediatrics, the University of Melbourne.

He completed his PhD in the area of gastrointestinal mucins in neoplasia. His subsequent work has been in the crosstalk of epithelium and mesenchyme in airway remodelling and in organ fibrosis in general. He has expertise in animal models of allergic airways disease, epithelial damage and fibrosis as well as small animal lung function testing and tissue analysis. Simon is developing novel therapeutic strategies for asthma and heart disease.
