Biography

Dr Ian Munro joined Monash University in 2009 in the first joint appointment between Peninsula Health and Monash University, School of Nursing and Midwifery as a Senior Lecturer and Principle Community Mental Health Nurse.

Before joining Monash Ian had extensive teaching responsibility at Deakin University School of Nursing, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. His main clinical area has been community mental health where he has held senior roles and been involved in practice development for community mental health nurses.

Ian’s research interests include mental health, employment opportunities for people who have a mental illness, social inclusion, marginalisation, HIV/AIDS, gay men, homophobia and substance use and misuse. Ian's preferred methodology is qualitative research.
