Dr Marie Misso - Researcher Profile

Biography

Dr Marie Misso is the Head of the Evidence Synthesis Program at Women’s Public Health Research, Monash University.  With a background in basic research of molecular mechanisms of metabolic disease; and translating research into practice and policy, Marie has built expertise in research methodology and synthesis and presentation of reliable and practical evidence-based health information. Marie has worked with various state and federal agencies and has taught evidence based clinical practice to 2nd and 3rd year medical students and post-graduate students. She is highly experienced in systematic review and developing evidence based guidelines, having played a key role in guidelines for osteoarthritis, cardiovascular disease and polycystic ovary syndrome and advising on the development of evidence based guidelines in the areas of antenatal care, problem gambling, lung cancer and asthma. She is an active member of the NHMRC Guideline Network and has contributed to the 2011 NMHRC standard for clinical practice guidelines.
