Biography

Len Cairns has been an active Teacher Educator and Academic in Universities since 1971. Major research and teaching interests are in: Capability, especially in organisations and individuals,Workplace Learning, Leadership and Management, Literacy especially the reading process Supervision of the practicum in Teacher Education Organisational Change and Development, International Education, with reference to development of Global Capability, Workplace Learning, Learner-Managed Learning, Self-Efficacy. Len is a Past Chair of the Workplace Learning SIG of the AERA (USA), and a former President of the Australian Teacher Education Association (formerly SPATE). Len also is a Visiting Professor in the Institute for Work-Based Learning at Middlesex University, London, England.He has held Visiting Scholar awards and positions at The University of Arizona, New York University,Universities of Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University,Arizona State University,Georgetown University, Washington D.C, Middlesex University, London, SNDT Women's University (Mumbai, India) and St Kiril and Methodius University in Macedonia.Len has been an accredited School Reviewer for the Victorian State Education Department (DEECD) since 1997 and also is a Subject Specialist Panel Chair for the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.
