Biography

Finding Better Ways to Teach Chemistry

Barbie is a chemistry lecturer  in the School of Applied Sciences at the Gippsland Campus.  She teaches organica and environmental chemistry to BSc and BCivEnvEng students.

Barbie's research interests are directed into the area of ICT in education, in particular the experience of off-campus students and developing ways to provide authentic learning experiences in the online environment.  Her recent studies have focussed on the way students use online resources including video in their learning.

Barbie is also involved with a number of analytical environmental projects. Over recent years this has included iodine deficiency in pregnant women, rehabilitation of acid mine waste and photo-catalytic water treatment.
