Ashraf is a senior lecturer in the Department of Business Law and Taxation.
Ashraf is a PhD Supervisor and member of the prestigious Monash University Institute of Graduate Research (MIGR).
She has been a Unit Coordinator/Chief Examiner in many law units including Corporations Law, Business Law and Taxation Law in different campuses at Monash University including Clayton, Caulfield, Berwick, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore. She has been appointed as a Chief Examiner for PhD since 2000 by the Vice Chancellors of 5 large universities in India including Mysore University, Karnatak, Nagarjuna and Pondicherry University. Ashraf has successfully supervised more than 30 students [Australian and overseas] research including PhD, Masters and Honours. One of her students has successfully completed PhD recently from Monash University in 2012.
Ashraf was College Head at Monash University from 1998 to 2005.
She has won the distinguished service award, International Institute for Advanced Studies, Canada. She also received several awards including best paper award at the 10th International Conference, Cybernetics, Germany.
Prior to joining Monash, Ashraf gained extensive industry experience in one of the largest Federal Government Industries, Bangalore Telephones, with more than 10,000 employees. She has extensive academic and research experience at national and international level. She has worked and researched in top Universities in countries including Australia, India, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong. She has also worked for the Postgraduate Department of Law, Law School, Bangalore University, India as a Professor, Researcher, Lecturer and Principal, heading 13 Law Schools. She was Women's Welfare Officer, National Social Service Officer and Chief Warden over a period of six years at Bangalore University, [one of the largest Universities in India]. Ashraf scored the highest marks and was awarded a gold medal for Post Graduate Studies in Personnel Management (PGDPM) and Masters in Law (LL.M) and won Merit scholarship for her studies in Graduation and Post-graduation.

Ashraf has won 2 overseas awards from Vice-Chancellors for excellence in Management. She has also won several teaching excellence awards including the Golden Apple Award 2011, Teaching Excellence Awards in 2008, 2009 ,2010 and 2011 from School of Business, Monash University, two Certificates for Excellence in Teaching in 2010 (Outstanding Performance- Top 3% in Monash University) awarded by Professor Adam Shoemaker, Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
