Dr Helena Teede - Researcher Profile

Biography

National and International recognition: HT has a highly competitive clinical and public health research and translation track record with national/ international recognition:
Key awards include: NH&MRC National Research Achievement Award for the highest ranked applicant in the 2009 NHMRC Career development award round (1/ 410 applicants),
Victorian Health Ministers award for Individual achievement in healthcare for translation of research into clinical practice (2009) and a Premiers commendation for Medical Research.
As current Chair of the NHMRC National Academy for Research Translation, membership of the NHMRC National Health Care committee (2010-, NHMRC CEO advisory committee on translation of research evidence into practice (2010-), the Endocrine Society of Australia (2008-11) and International AEPOCS (2008-2011) councils, Prof Teede also established and leads the National Australian PCOS Alliance (2008-2011) and the national PCOS evidence based guideline project, is a Diabetes Australia Board member (2009-11) and has had representation on the Federal government “Women’s Health” and “Healthy communities” policy advisory committees as well as input into federal diabetes policy forums (2011). HT is a well established clinical researcher and her impact on women’s health outcomes and translation into practice was acknowledged with Induction into the Victorian Honour Roll for women in 2012.
Area of expertise: HT and her multidisciplinary team have a reputation in clinical and public health/women’s health research focused on prevention and management of obesity and its complications including PCOS, pregnancy complications, gestational diabetes and diabetes via large scale international/nationally funded projects. HT also brings considerable expertise in research translation. Research interests and clinical activities align with services across obesity, PCOS, diabetes in pregnancy and established diabetes.
