Biography

Shelley Marshall is a senior lecturer in the Department of Business Law and Taxation.

Shelley joined the department in 2008, teaching, researching, publishing and supervising in the areas of corporate governance and accountability, and labour law and development. Before joining the department she was a senior research fellow with the Corporate Governance and Workplace Partnerships Project at the Law School of the University of Melbourne. Prior to her academic career, Shelley practiced as a lawyer.

Shelley has been closely involved in not-for-profit and charity regulation reform and labour law reform, appearing before numerous Senate Committee inquiries. She has provided advice to the International Labour Organisation, with her work cited by the highest governing body, influencing international labour market regulation. She has also provided advice to the government of Bulgaria regarding regulation of informal workers.

Shelley is the recipient of a number of large grants, which have allowing her to conduct major research projects internationally.

Her research supervision interests include corporate governance, employee participation law, globalisation and law, industrial relations, and law and development.
