Biography

Shane Homan teaches in media and cultural studies and has previously taught at the Universities of Western Sydney and Newcastle. His research and publications in popular music studies over the past ten years have focused upon the Australian and global music industries and cultural industries policy. He has published three books and many journal articles in journals such as Media International Australia, the Journal of Youth Studies and the International Journal of Cultural Policy. He is currently General Secretary of the International Association for the Study of Popular Music and a member of the ARC Cultural Research Network. In 2004 Shane was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Popular Music, University of Liverpool. His research has provoked music industry reform in the areas of music venue regulation, nightclubs and performer copyright structures.
