Dr. Anton Isaacs is a public health physician. He has worked in the fields of, HIV and AIDS, reproductive health, occupational health and mental health. He has also been involved in teaching medical and nursing students as well as community health workers. Anton set up a rural mental health service outside Bangalore, India which has been successfully integrated into general medical services. He joined Monash University in 2007 to pursue his PhD. Anton’s doctoral research focussed on help seeking of Aboriginal men with mental health problems and the response of mental health services to their needs. He continues to work in the area of mental health and wellbeing with Aboriginal communities in rural Victoria.

Anton teaches into the SRH2002 unit on Indigenous Health and Wellbeing for Nurses and into the Indigenous Health program for students of Gippsland Medical School.
Anton is a member of the Board of Governance of SNAP Gippsland Inc., a psychiatric disability and rehabilitation support service (PDRSS) and is currently its Deputy Chair.
