Dr Shiva Vasi's background is in sociology and clinical anthropology. Her research, publications and teaching have been in the areas of social-psychology of religion and mindfulness meditation; refugee settlement in Victoria; international mental health, focusing on psychosocial health in post-conflict settings; refugee health in relation to the delivery of culturally competent maternal and child health services and diabetes care to Cambodians in Melbourne; e-health researching the implementation of e-health innovations in general practice.
Shiva is currently researching improving refugee access to Australian General Practice services, and developing a best practice framework for the delivery of coordinated primary care services to refugees in Australia.
