Biography

Steve Smith is a senior lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Finance. 

He has around 20 years of teaching experience at the University of Melbourne, La Trobe University, and Monash University, and has worked as both financial accountant and management accountant in industry.

He is a member of the Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee, and helps to coordinate use of the Faculty of Business and Economics Behavioural Laboratory.

Dr Smith has over 30 publications in conferences and journals, including publications in the top ranked journals Information Systems Research (A*) and Communications of the Association for Information Systems (see publications page). His current work focuses on designing user-friendly health information for patients with a chronic disease, where the information both informs the patient of his or her current health status and motivates that person to maintain the treatment regime. That project recently received a grant of approximately $100,000 from the Federal Department of Health and Aging, and major publications are in progress.
