Christopher Anderson is a Research Fellow and the Executive Officer with the Problem Gambling Research and Treatment Centre (PGRTC). He is also a member of the Primary Care Research Unit (PCRU) and the Healthy Ageing Research Unit (HARU).
Chris obtained his Bachelor of Science Education and a Bachelor of Theology from the University of Melbourne. He spent eighteen years in secondary teaching, including curriculum development, professional development and public health initiatives in the early years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. He then undertook consultancy work with Divisions of general practice and the Royal Australian College of GPs. He then formalised his research career at La Trobe University in problem gambling before moving to Monash University to the PCRU to coordinate the Primary Health Care Research, Evaluation & Development (PHCRED) program.
Chris has a long career in research into problem gambling and has been involved in a number of large research projects, presented at many conferences and professional development activities.
His main area of research interest is the application of qualitative methodologies to the conceptualisations of gambling and problem gambling to develop a theoretical model for interpreting the cultural conceptualisations of gamblers and problem gamblers for the Australia context.
