The Monash Centre for Electron Microscopy (MCEM) is a $37 million facility that offers first-class research and expertise in electron microscopy and atom probe microscopy.
We are home to one of the most powerful electron microscopes in the world, the Titan 80-300. This is the highest resolution electron microscope in Australia and one of just a handful of such units worldwide.
Our researchers are interested in the structure of materials. Thanks to the Titan, they can view these structures with amazing clarity.
Our suite of advanced instrumentation can determine the composition, structure and bonding of materials down to the atomic scale. This enables researchers to solve key problems in the physical sciences and engineering.
The centre works with both academic and industry researchers. We also partner with industry and government research agencies, Centres of Excellence and Cooperative Research Centres.
