The Monash Macromolecular Crystallisation Facility is the largest-fully automated crystal production facility in the world.
Crystallography provides unparalleled details of the 3D structure of biological macromolecules. This can provide a basis for understanding protein function and the rational design of therapeutics.
We use high-speed robots to perform hundreds of protein crystallisation trials in a very short time frame. Our high-throughput system can maximise the number of crystals suitable for X-ray analysis. This can ease the common bottleneck that occurs when creating high-quality crystals.
Our purpose-built facility also houses state-of-the-art facilities for X-ray diffraction data collection and structure determination.
Our researchers can access their results remotely via a web interface.
