MBI is a newly established biomedical imaging research centre that supports a wide range of biomedical, engineering and scientific research. We support interdisciplinary and multi-modal imaging research in X-Ray, CT, PET, SPECT and MRI.

Our expertise and technological capabilities support a wide range of pre-clinical and clinical research projects undertaken by Monash University and our collaborating organisations:

  • CSIRO
  • Australian Synchrotron
  • Southern Health (Monash Medical Centre)
  • Prince Henry's Institute
  • Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

We collaborate with world-leading imaging technology providers to give our users access to the latest imaging technologies. One example is the MAGNETOM Skyra MRI. Through our partnership with Siemens we are the first organisation in Australia to receive this device. It offers a faster workflow, better detail and uses less injected contrast material.

We also collaborate with global experts in medicine, science and engineering, as well as industry and government to create innovative solutions to clinical health challenges.
