Sustainability is about meeting the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet the needs of tomorrow. It is a balance between environmental protection, social justice, economic well-being and diversity.
Monash draws together researchers whose focus spans the environmental, engineering, social, and economic aspects of sustainability and is well placed to provide real solutions to global challenges.
Working principally through the Monash Sustainability Institute, Monash University is pioneering a range of partnerships with academia, industry, government and private institutions to find new solutions to today's sustainability challenges.

Natural Resource Management in Asia in Response to Climate Change

BehaviourWorks Australia
BehaviourWorks Australia is a behavioural change research centre for environmental sustainability. It is a partnership between the Monash Sustainability Institute, EPA Victoria, Sustainability Victoria and The Shannon Company.
Indigenous Communities and Climate Change
A partnership with the Yorta Yorta to learn from indigenous natural resources management in the Barmah-Millewa forests.
Systemic and Adaptive Governance Research Program
An innovative research program exploring environmental policy, organisational capacity and institutional reforms across governance systems in the Murray-Darling Basin.
Green Steps
