National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)Travelling Award for Research Training
Scheme Aim and ObjectivesThe Travelling Award for Research Training has been established to enable current holders of NHMRC Career Development Awards, Australian-based Fellowships and Scholarships to value add to their research by providing funding for limited training periods at a temporary host institution. The Travelling Awards are available to all current holders of NHMRC Career Development Awards, Australian Training Fellowships and Postgraduate Scholarships. EligibilityApplicants cannot hold this award in the first 12 months, but may apply for the award in the second 6 months of their Career Development Award, Fellowship or Scholarship. This award can be held either in Australia or overseas. Applicants will be required to ensure that facilities are available at the temporary host institution. Successful applicants must take up this award within 6 months of the intended commencement date, which is January 1 (where closing date is in July) and July 1 (where closing date is in February). The awardee can hold other non NHMRC travelling awards. FundingOverseas: A living allowance of $5,000 for 3 months up to a maximum of $10,000 for 6 months, and an airfare allowance of up to $2,500, will be paid for a Travelling Award held overseas. Australia: A living allowance of $3,000 for 3 months up to a maximum of $6,000 for 6 months, and an airfare allowance of up to $1,000, will be paid for a Travelling Award held in Australia.
