Research Contracts - Categories of Research Income

DEEWR requires universities to report their research income annually in these four categories:

Category 1:

Australian Competitive Grants Research income from grant schemes listed on the Australian Competitive Grants Register

 

Category 2:

Other Public Sector Research Income Research income from Australian governments:

  • Australian Government
  • State Governments
  • Local Government

This includes contract research income from Australian government sources, and income from CRCs in which the University is not a core participant or participant (i.e., not a signatory to the CRC Agreement).

 

Category 3:

Industry and Other Research Income Research income from these sub-categories:

  • Australian
    • Contracts
    • Grants
    • Donations, bequests and foundations
  • International
    • Contracts
    • Grants
    • Donations, bequests and foundations

 

Category 4:

CRC Research Income

This is income received over a financial rather than calendar year, classified into the following sub-categories:

  • Research income derived from Australian Government grants to CRCs
  • Research income derived from non-university industry members of CRCs
  • Research income derived from tghird parties contributing to CRCs
