A test rig has been designed which aims to evaluate the function of hydraulic and pneumatic knee control units that are used as part of the knee joint of a prosthesis for a trans - femoral (above the knee) amputee.
The rig can be used to asses the decay of the units in the clinical; environment without dismantling the prosthesis. It also allows for a passive test of the unit by the clinician in a manner that would be the current practice. It is assumed that following a number of clinical evaluations, the rig will be modified to provide the most appropriate feedback to the clinician.
