ADVICE for Amputees

A new on-line resource for amputees - Information for Amputees - Resource Kit Generation System has been produced. It has been designed to be accessed by individual clinics and it can be tailored to suit particular clinical practices.

The HELP section from the top page can guide you through the system. In our design of a new information kit, we sought feedback on the following:

  • clinical processes, i.e. interim versus definitive management
  • information currently provided to patients, i.e. inpatient versus outpatient, upper limb versus lower limb, paediatrics versus adults
  • team member roles
  • functional reintegration
  • long-term follow up of clients
  • patients interested in providing a synopsis of their own experience

PREFACE For “Advice for Amputees” booklet- By REHABTech
The Commonwealth Department of Veterans’ Affairs first published Advice for Amputees in 1981. Since this time the booklet has been reprinted with corrections. Although the Advice for Amputees booklet may be available within Australia still, REHABTech does not endorse it as a true reflection of best practice.View contents of Advice for Amputees (Old Commonwealth Department of Veterans' Affairs version.)

The electronic version is a copy of the 1991 reprint with limited corrections (i.e. changes to terminology), and may not be appropriate to distribute directly to clients. However, a copy can be obtained for further comment by contacting REHABTech
