Staff and students at Sunway campus should note that alcohol is usually not served or sold in government buildings and functions in Malaysia. Students at Monash South Africa should contact Student Administration on that campus regarding rules about drugs and alcohol.
For all Australian campuses, the Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy states that persons must not present to University impaired by the effects of alcohol or other drugs, and will be at all times unimpaired by alcohol and other drugs whilst working in or representing the University. This applies to all staff, students, residents, contractors and visitors of and to the University. To do otherwise is to put at risk Monash University people, property and the reputation of the University in the community. In certain areas of Monash University in which staff, students, contractors and visitors undertake high risk activities, a zero alcohol level will be required in order to safely perform these duties.
Staff, students, residents, contractors and visitors enjoy a variety of social activities as part of the University experience. The University encourages positive and safe social interaction and expects that those supervising events and those partaking in activities on University property ensure conduct that does not put at risk Monash University people, property and reputation. The Alcohol at Functions Policy applies to on-campus accommodation and ensures that excessive amounts of alcohol are not provided at any function.
Monash University recognises that alcohol or other drug dependency is a medical condition and actively encourages and supports students and staff with a dependency problem to seek confidential referral, treatment and rehabilitation.
