Monash University has unveiled its landmark philanthropic campaign -- Monash+

Drs Alan and Elizabeth Finkel

A new philanthropic fundraising campaign aims to raise $200 million for student support, teaching, research, and campus enhancements, campaign chair Trevor O'Hoy (BEc 1976) has announced.
"Generous philanthropic contributions have already provided almost $80 million towards this ambitious goal. I believe that the Monash+ campaign will inspire philanthropy at a new level." he said.
The Monash+ campaign will seek support from the University's alumni, staff and friends.
The University's first ever staff philanthropy campaign ran in April and was well received by staff. "I was inspired to take part in the campaign and support student bursaries. I am a great believer in the power of education and the importance of education being available to as many young people as possible," Dr Caroline Gargett said.
"An email appeal to alumni is scheduled to kick off soon. Alumni are invited to give towards priority student support initiatives across the ten faculties. Alumni can also support projects across the University.
Vice-President (Advancement) Ron Fairchild said that by adding the impact of philanthropy (Monash+ Philanthropy), Monash University would transform lives in Australia and around the globe.
"Monash+ is a journey. Through Monash+, Monash University will cement its position as one of the world's greatest universities. Monash+ will look at our strengths and make them unbeatable," Mr Fairchild said.

Chancellor Dr Alan Finkel AM, on philanthropy:
Philanthropy means investing in the community that underpinned your own achievements. You have a bit of success in your life and achieve some goals and you find that you want to give back."
