1970s

Australian Bureau of Meteorology scientist Neville Nicholls (BSc 1971) was a lead author of the recent 'Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change'.

Following a career in material science, Jim Boland (PhD 1971) has finally decided to retire, though he remains at the CSIRO as an honorary research fellow.

Tony D'Aloisio (BA 1971, LLB(Hons) 1973) has been appointed chairman of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) after serving as a commissioner since late 2006.

Peter McCrossin (BEc 1972, GradDipEdPsych 1984) has relocated to Canberra, Australia, to become manager of cadets and undergraduates with the Department of Defence.

Stephen Brown (BEc(Hons) 1972) is now the David S Loeb Chair of Finance at the New York University Stern School of Business in New York, USA.

Jeff Szer

Now based in Germany, Catharine Dryden (BA 1972) has worked in England and Germany as a freelance translator and secretary-assistant in German, English, French and Spanish.

Working at the Royal Melbourne Hospital since 1993, Jeff Szer (BMedSc 1974, MBBS 1976) is the recently appointed professor/director of the Hospital's Department of Clinical Haematology.

Jeff Hart (MEc 1974) is now Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria. This follows his most recent position as deputy head of mission at the Australian Embassy in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Owen Aubrey (BSc 1976) is now general manager of supply chain for OneSteel Distribution in Sydney, Australia. This follows 34 years Owen spent working for CSR and Carter Holt Harvey.

Adrian van den Bergen (MSc 1976) and his wife have recently opened their own boutique vineyard - Gwynnyth Vineyards. Prior to this, Adrian was at Monash University as the chemistry department's senior professional research officer and honorary research associate.

John Pasco (BSc(Hons) 1978, DipEd 1979, MBBS 1983) was appointed as emergency department director at the Werribee Mercy Hospital after 13 years as deputy director of Barwon Health in Geelong, Australia.
