Monash Alumni Association Inc

Monash Environmental Alumni
The Graduate School of Environmental Science held a dinner in November last year attended by more than 85 alumni and 30 staff and students. Graduates of the school can be kept informed of Monash Environmental Alumni opportunities and events in 2004 by keeping their contact details updated with the alumni office.
IT
Five Faculty of IT students spent the (Australian) summer working as interns at Macromedia in San Francisco in a program set up with the assistance of Monash graduate Al Ramadan, Macromedia's executive vice-president, Marketing. Law
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the Law School will pay tribute to the achievements of its graduates in a program of events including a Gala Dinner on 19 August. Monash Law alumni not only work within the legal profession, they can be found in key positions of government, industry, communications and finance. As well, Monash graduates now dominate the highest positions in the Victorian judicial system. MBA
In a move endorsed by members of the former association, the governance and core activities of the Monash MBA Alumni Association have been transferred to the university's Faculty of Business and Economics. With the university's backing, a vibrant program is planned for 2004 that will continue to deliver benefits and networking opportunities to Monash MBA graduates. Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences
The inaugural Dean's Alumni Lecture on 'Big lessons from smallpox: bioterrorism and emerging infections' was presented in April by eminent microbiologist and virologist Professor Frank Fenner AC CMG MBE (Hon. MD 1966). Two further lectures are planned for 2004. For information on these and other activities, look out for the new quarterly faculty newsletter, which will be sent to alumni and posted on the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences website.
Pharmacy
Four pharmacy reunions are being organised for 2004: a 10th anniversary reunion for 1994 graduates, a 25th anniversary reunion for 1979, a 35th anniversary for 1969 and a 50th anniversary reunion for 1954. Singapore
The Monash University Alumni Association Singapore (MUAAS) provides a network of contacts, events and opportunities for Monash alumni based in Singapore. MUAAS members may now use the Alumni House facilities at the National University of Singapore for alumni events. Monash University Malaysia coordinates the Monash Career Network, aimed at supporting new graduates, alumni looking for their next job, and alumni who are interested in employing Monash graduates. Hong Kong
The Monash University Hong Kong Alumni Association (MUHKAA) offers regular events and activities for alumni in Hong Kong. Recently, a group of members undertook volunteer work for a charity that provides training and hostel services to people with disabilities. The association voted in its new president, Business and Economics graduate Ms Bonnie Wong, at a celebration dinner and AGM in March. Monash Asia Institute
