Synopsis

Students will develop a viable research proposal to address a question of psychological importance. They will make application to MUHREC (Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee) for approval to conduct the research.

Outcomes

On completion of this unit students will be able to:

1. Analyse theories, concepts and issues central to aspecific topic;
2. Design a research study including the selection of an appropriate methodology;
3. Understand the options available in research design and analysis, and how to select them;
4. Know the ethical and professional issues confronting researchers;
5. Be able to complete a successful application for Ethics Approval.

Assessment

OCDL: Submission of a research proposal, and an application to MUHREC (Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee) for research approval. On-campus: Oral presentation of the rationale and design of the proposed research study, and application to MUHREC (Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee) for research approval
