Synopsis
This unit will explore the issues surrounding the procurement and usage of technology within the retail industry. Topics include retail management systems as a strategic tool, store systems technologies, supply chain, RFID, customer relationship management and future international technological developments for retailing.
Objectives
The learning goals associated with this unit are to:
- define the purposes of technology in relation to retailing
- evaluate the impact of technology on retail management and practices
- describe the differences between the various characteristics of technology used within the retail sector
- analyse the return on investment for technology procurement within retail
- critically analyse the methods contemporary management use in procuring and implementing technology.
