International students' representative groups

Each Australian campus of Monash has a representative body for international students. These groups promote and look after the rights and interests of all international students; they encourage and assist in the cultural, social and educational activities of international student groups, and encourage understanding and cooperation between Australian and international students. Each service assists students with welfare problems and also acts as a referral to other services provided within and outside the University. Overseas newspapers, magazines (such as the `New Straits Times' and `Asiaweek') and tea and coffee are usually available.

Committee positions are elected annually through secret ballot. Other committee positions may be filled at a duly constituted general meeting or may be co-opted by the committee.

These groups are:

  • Berwick International Student Association
  • Overseas Student Service, Caulfield
  • Monash University International Students Service (a division of the Monash Student Association) for Clayton students
  • International Students Association at Gippsland (in association with the Monash University Gippsland Student Union)
  • Overseas Student Service, Peninsula.
