Concerts, cinemas, theatres and galleriesFor details of a range of concerts and other events at Monash visit http://www.monash.edu.au/events Many events are also advertised in `Monash Memo' available at www.monash.edu.au/news/monashmemo. ClaytonConcerts and theatreThe location on campus of the Robert Blackwood Hall and Alexander Theatre means the campus can offer a rich repertoire of concert and theatrical events each year. Details of these venues and their programmes can be found at http://www.monash.edu.au/monart/events Musical recitals are held by the School of Music - Conservatorium most Thursday lunchtimes from 1.05-1.55pm during semesters one and two in building 67. Cost is $3. Other concerts are often held by different groups and are usually advertised in `Monash Memo', or the Monash events website. Student groups may also bring bands on to campus - contact your student organisation or ask at the Campus Centre information desk. Monash University Museum of ArtThe Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA) offers a unique perspective on the recent history of contemporary art and culture, and is adventurous and forward looking in the production, research and support of new art and ideas. Through its exhibition, collection and public programs, MUMA makes an energetic contribution to, and interaction with, the intellectual and cultural life of the University and broader communities. CaulfieldStudent Gallery - Runt SpaceThe Caulfield campus Student Gallery provides a unique venue for students to exhibit their work, and is funded by MONSU Caulfield, the Faculty of Art and Design, and Monash University Campus Life. The gallery is in Building D, in the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Art and Design. Faculty Gallery - Art and DesignThe Faculty Gallery showcases a diverse range of exhibitions, addressing the local, national and international visual arts and design scene, through a wide range of media including painting, tapestry, print media, ceramics, jewellery, photo media, industrial design, digital media and installation. With a focus also on presenting visual art and design as the outcome of research, the work of academic staff, research candidates and the Visiting Artist Program may feature in the Faculty Gallery programming, and may also be housed in additional exhibition spaces located within the Faculty of Art and Design. GippslandSwitchback GallerySince its official opening by the Federal Minister for Communications and the Arts in 1995, the Switchback Gallery has developed into a cultural focal point for Monash students and the regional community. The Switchback hosts about ten exhibitions each year, featuring work from students as well as regional, metropolitan and international artists. The broad ranging program includes contemporary work from all disciplines and is designed to encourage free-ranging discussion and debate between students, staff and the community.
