Research students

NOTE: Please refer to the exclusions and exceptions for this section under heading 3.8 Unsatisfactory progress and exclusion.

If you are undertaking a doctoral degree or a research masters degree by thesis, your candidature may be terminated if your progress in your research is not considered satisfactory. It is expected that discussions between you and your supervisor will have given adequate warning that your work was not developing satisfactorily. Whenever it has been recommended by the school or centre that a candidature be terminated, you will be asked if you wish to make representation to the relevant faculty committee before a final decision is made.

Termination regulations for higher degree by research candidates are found in Part 2 of the research graduate school committee's doctoral and masters by research (general) regulations available at http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/calendar/facregs/index.html
