Making partial SCA payments
To make a partial student contribution amount payment (eg paying part of your SCA and deferring the remaining amount using HECS-HELP), use any of the payment methods listed above. Simply nominate an amount when making your payment. Only partial payments of $500 or more will attract the 20 per cent discount.
What do I do if I am facing financial hardship and can't pay my fees?
Go to http://adm.monash.edu.au/financial-aid, or contact a financial aid officer for advice about your options.
Applying for a fee payment extension
If you are a re-enrolling student suffering financial hardship, you may apply for a short-term extension to your fee due date. Applications must be received by the due date specified on your `Enrolment details and fee statement'. Applications may not be lodged for added units.
Only one extension of time to a maximum of 20 working days will be granted. Extensions beyond this can only be approved in cases of demonstrated severe financial hardship, and the application must be lodged before the original extension date. Students who fail to pay by the extended due date will risk being encumbered and may have their enrolment invalidated. Under normal circumstances, students who have access to FEE-HELP or HECS-HELP cannot apply for a fee payment extension.

What happens if I don't pay by the due date?
Non-payment of fees and encumbrance/invalidation
You may receive an administrative encumbrance, which means loss of access to:
- library borrowing and other library services.
- Monash University's computer systems, including internet and email.
- enrolment records, examination results, and academic transcripts, and
- you will be unable to graduate until the debt is cleared.
In addition to the above, you may be invalidated, which means:
- your enrolment will be discontinued.
- if you wish to re-activate your enrolment at any time, you must first pay the reinstatement fee.
- you cannot be enrolled in another course at Monash until the reinstatement fee is paid.
- if you are an international student on a student visa living in Australia (and your enrolment has been invalidated for non-payment of fees), you will have your case referred to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) for breach of visa conditions.
