LAN (National Accreditation Board) Compulsory SubjectsStudents studying at Sunway campus, MalaysiaThe Malaysian Private Higher Educational Institutions Act (PHEI) 1996 states that all Malaysian students must pass the National Language (A), Malaysian Studies, Islamic Studies/Moral Studies as prerequisites to the award of certificates, diploma and degrees by the Malaysian Institutions of Higher Education. At Sunway, the National Language and the other LAN compulsory subjects are offered in accordance with the PHEI National Language and Compulsory Subjects syllabuses requirements. As a student at Sunway, it is your responsibility to plan for the completion of the compulsory subjects before graduation. You are advised to refer to the Two Year Subject Planner in' LAN Compulsory Subjects Handbook' available from the LAN Compulsory Subjects Unit at the building 2, level 2. To avoid any disappointment or complication, it is advisable that you complete all the required compulsory subjects by the third or fourth semester. At Sunway, these subjects are provided free of charge. The subject combinations are as follows:
National Language (A) is a more advanced subject which requires language competencies near or equivalent to the SPM or Form 5 level, while National Language (B) is an introductory subject designed to facilitate development of language competencies at a basic level. Exemption
