Notes
DescriptionThis innovative masters degree is being offered by the Faculty of Law in conjunction with the faculties of Arts, Business and Economics, Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, and Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The study of regulation is a relatively new discipline which both links and transcends the boundaries between the disciplines of economics, law, politics, criminology, sociology, psychology, organisational theory, public administration and health. To date, it has been at the periphery of most of these fields. This course will provide practitioners and scholars in these fields with a core set of ideas, theories and skills to apply to their activities. ObjectivesThe Master of Regulatory Studies provides a broad understanding of regulatory processes and techniques applicable across a range of regulated activities. It provides an understanding of law, economics and public policy for persons working in government in policy development, regulatory enforcement or the development of regulatory legislation, in private industry, law firms and in academia. The course provides current and future practitioners with the appropriate theories and skills to deal with the regulatory challenges that arise in all areas of national and international activity.
