Chapter 7 - Academic dress
Statute 7.1 - Academic and Ceremonial dress
1. In this statute or in any regulations made hereunder the expression
'members of the university' shall include the members of the Council,
the deans, the professors and other members of the academic and administrative
staff of the university, undergraduate and graduate students pursuing
a course of study at the university and graduates of the university.
2. Members of the university shall wear academic dress or ceremonial
when attending any public occasion or ceremony of the university convened
for academic purposes and on such other occasions as the Council may
determine.
3.1 The Council may make regulations for or with respect to -
3.1.1 prescribing the academic dress or ceremonial of the various members
of the university;
3.1.2 prescribing or providing for any other matter or thing for which
it is necessary or expedient to prescribe or provide for the purposes
of this statute; and the Council may make regulations amending or revoking
any such regulations.
3.2 Regulations made under this statute must be promulgated
on the Monash University Calendar website and after being so promulgated
must remain on the website for at least 14 days.
