Masters Degrees by Research



1. The degree

Subject to the admission to candidature provisions of these regulations, the following masters degrees by research may be undertaken in the faculty pursuant to the Masters Degrees by Research (General) regulations of the Research Graduate School Committee -
  • Master of Business Systems (Research)
  • Master of Information Management and Systems (Research)
  • Master of Information Technology (Research)


2. Interpretation

In these regulations ‘approved’ means approved by the faculty board.


3. Admission to candidature for the Master of Business Systems (Research)

An applicant for admission to candidature for the degree of Master of Business Systems (Research) must have -

3.1.1
qualified at an approved level for -

3.1.1.1
the degree of Bachelor of Information Technology with honours or a degree deemed a satisfactory substitute by the faculty board; or

3.1.1.2
a bachelors degree deemed relevant by the faculty board and have approved research or industry experience; or

3.1.2
completed approved masters degree units in the faculty, at second class honours level or above, and have approved research or industry experience.


4. Admission to candidature for the Master of Information Management and Systems Research (Research)

4.1 An applicant for admission to candidature for the degree of Master of Information Management and Systems Research (Research) must -

4.1.1
have qualified for an approved bachelors degree with honours, with a second class honours grade or higher; or

4.1.2
have completed approved masters degree units in the faculty, at second class honours level or above, and have approved research or industry experience


5. Admission to candidature for the Master of Information Technology (Research)

An applicant for admission to candidature for the degree of Master of Information Technology (Research) must have -

5.1.1
qualified at an approved level for the degree of -

5.1.1.1
Bachelor of Computing with honours or Bachelor of Information Technology with honours, or a degree deemed a satisfactory substitute by the faculty board; or

5.1.1.2
Bachelor of Information Technology, or a degree deemed a satisfactory substitute by the faculty board, and have approved research or industry experience; or

5.1.2
have completed approved masters degree units in the faculty, at second class honours level or above, and have approved research or industry experience.
