1. Graduate Certificates 1.1 Graduate certificates in a field of study listed in the schedule may be undertaken in the faculty pursuant to these regulations. 1.2 The title of a graduate certificate is "Graduate Certificate in" followed by the name of the relevant field of study.
In these regulations, unless the contrary intention appears - "course of study" means a course of study determined by the faculty board under these regulations; "faculty board" means the faculty board of the faculty; "faculty information handout" means a faculty handbook or such other publication, whether bound or loose leaf or on-line or in other electronic form, concerning a course of study as the faculty board determines from time to time; "graduate certificate" means a graduate certificate in a field of study listed in the schedule.
3.1 An applicant for admission to candidature must have - 3.1.1 qualified for a degree; 3.1.2 completed, with a minimum average grade 65%, two non-award units of the faculty, prescribed by the faculty and published in an information handout; or 3.1.3 other qualifications and experience - which the faculty board is satisfied constitute suitable preparation for the proposed course of study.
4.1 A course of study comprises units determined by the faculty board under this section. 4.2 The faculty board may, from time to time, determine the units comprising a course of study and may, in relation to the units, determine any matter including, but not limited to, requirements concerning - 4.2.1 number, timing, content and duration; 4.2.2 attendance and participation; 4.2.3 credit points; 4.2.4 assessment; and 4.2.5 satisfactory completion. 4.3 The faculty board must cause each determination under this section to be published in a faculty information handout.
5.1 Where the faculty board is satisfied that a candidate has completed work equivalent to or a satisfactory substitute for particular work in the candidate’s course of study, the faculty board may grant credit to the candidate in respect of that work to a maximum 25% of the work in the candidates course of study. 5.2 Despite subsection 5.1, a candidate who qualified for admission to candidature under paragraph 3.1.2 may be granted full credit for the two non-award units. 5.3 Credit must not be granted in respect of work completed more than 10 years before admission to candidature.
Except where the faculty board in any particular case otherwise determines, a candidate must complete a course of study in a maximum of 10 years.
A candidate who satisfactorily completes the course of study for a graduate certificate is qualified for the award of the graduate certificate.
8.1 Subject to this section, a candidate must comply with these regulations and with the requirements concerning the relevant course of study determined by the faculty board under these regulations, as in force or published from time to time. 8.2 Where the faculty board considers that a candidate has, since first enrolling for a graduate certificate, been unreasonably adversely affected by any change in the regulations or course of study requirements, the faculty board must permit the candidate to qualify for the graduate certificate under the regulations or course of study requirements in force or published at some time during candidature, provided that the faculty board is satisfied that the work so required to be completed is equivalent in standard to that currently required to complete the course of study.
