This unit involves completing a research project identifying a specific problem relating to accounting, auditing or finance and suggestions or systems to meet the problem. In identifying the research question students will complete an extensive literature review.


The learning goals associated with this unit are to:

  1. develop analytical, communication and project management skills
  2. discuss various research methodologies appropriate to solving research questions
  3. explain the purpose and function of accounting research
  4. critically evaluate underlying theories, concepts, assumptions, limitations and arguments in accounting
  5. apply critical thinking, problem solving and presentation skills to individual activities dealing with current accounting issues.
