Synopsis

This study extends the development of observational acuity and investigation initiated in previous subjects. Sequential projects encourage students to recognise the continually unfolding nature of visual perception and through its engagement discover means for its energetic and vivid description. The subject expands the range of objects and motifs previously studied to stimulate conceptual and technical development.

Outcomes

  1. have skill in using an extended range of drawing materials and processes
  2. possess an understanding of the relationship of drawing to colour in the description of form and space
  3. be capable of drawing from an increasingly larger range of subject material, including the possibility of outdoors sites
  4. recognise individual responses to the perceived world and begin to make independent judgements on the appropriateness of procedures and techniques for their description
  5. possess greater understanding of the philosophical, theoretical and aesthetic issues underlying the perceptual drawing process and demonstrate this through active participation participation in individual and group critiques.

Assessment

By folio 100%. Initial project or work-in-progress is assessed in the first part of the semester and contributes a weighting of no less than 20% to the final assessment.
