This page gives access to a patch (or update) for CD Versions 3.10 and later of RunGTAP. The patch upgrades to version 3.53 of RunGTAP. To find out which version of RunGTAP you have, use the RunGTAP Help..About menu item.
The patch corrects various problems noticed since Version 3.10 was released. It contains a new RunGTAP.EXE and new versions of ViewHAR, SLTOHTA.EXE and other generic programs. From Jan 2007, several important changes are:
Other changes include:
Note: The current official Purdue RunGTAP disk (version 3.40) contains several bugs. Please use this patch to update to version 3.53.
The patch is frequently updated to incorporate new minor bug fixes. Only minor testing is done after each update. Conceivably, new, undetected, bugs have been introduced. So back up your existing RunGTAP folder before installing the patch.
First, print out this instruction page. Then ...
(a) Use the RunGTAP Help..About menu item to find your RunGTAP folder (where
RunGTAP.EXE is located: possibly C:\RUNGTAP5). At the same time check that you have
version 3.10 or later of RunGTAP.
(b) Close RunGTAP
(c) Make a backup or zip of your entire RunGTAP folder [but not of subdirectories below
it].
(d) Download the files RGTPATCH.ZIP and RGTPATCH2.ZIP (each about 10 MB) into your RunGTAP
folder.
(e) Unzip RGTPATCH.ZIP and RGTPATCH2.ZIP into the RunGTAP folder (overwriting some
existing files). Look at the files PATCHLIS* if you want to know what files are contained
in the ZIP files.
(f) Start RunGTAP and try it out. The Help..About menu item should indicate
RunGTAP version 3.53. You may get the warning "Obsolete or missing SLI file" the first
time you load each "version". Use the RunGTAP Tools..Run Test Simulation command
to avoid the warning.
If you have a problem, you can restore previously existing files using the backup you made at step (c).
Note
This patch updates RunGTAP.EXE and some other generic programs. It does not contain the
full RunGTAP product. In particular, it does not contain the "version" subdirectories or
files relating to the GTAP model. It should be safe to unzip the patch into your RunGTAP
directory: this will not alter GTAP.TAB or any data files. OTHER patches are available
from the GTAP web site for the latest version of GTAP.TAB and for certain "versions"
which can be used with RunGTAP.
This zip provides new GTAP.EXE and other files to replace those supplied with RunGTAP. The newer files have the following advantages:
You need a version of RunGTAP built June 2006 or later (check this from the Help..About menu item), so if your RunGTAP is older than that you should first update using the patches above.
First, as insurance, make a zip of files named GTAP.* in your RunGTAP folder.
Download the file GTAP.ZIP (about 3.5 MB) and unzip into your RunGTAP folder, overwriting existing GTAP.* files. There are more instructions in the file GTAP.DOC.
Read more about parallel computation here or see tips for buying a new PC.
This EXE has been compiled with the Intel 64-bit compiler, so it only works with 64-bit Windows and can solve any size of GTAP database (if you have enough RAM). It also has the parallel computing features mentioned above.
You need a version of RunGTAP built May 2007 or later (check this from the Help..About menu item), so if your RunGTAP is older than that you should first update using the patches above.
Download the file GTAPMP64.ZIP (about 3.0 MB) and unzip into your RunGTAP folder. There are more instructions in the file GTAPMP64.DOC.
These are the files usually supplied in the folder C:\GTAP during the Purdue training course.
Download GTAPEX.ZIP (312kb).
