Monash offers an extensive package of scholarships and bursaries that encourage and reward academic excellence at all levels of study and ensure fair access to a world-class education.

In general, students can receive a scholarship or bursary on the basis of:

  • merit
  • equity
  • merit and equity.

Support for high achievers

Both our Bachelor of Pharmacy (Scholars Program) and Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Advanced with Honours for high-achieving students have associated scholarships that reward excellence:

Support for rural and Indigenous students

Monash believes distance shouldn't be a barrier to a quality education and encourages students from a rural background who want to study in our faculty to apply for the:

Monash also urges Indigenous students, who intend to enrol in a full-time Commonwealth-supported place in our faculty and can demonstrate financial hardship, to apply for a Monash scholarship or bursary or a special scholarship for Indigenous students.

Support for international students

The Pharmacy International Undergraduate Merit Scholarship is offered to one student a year who commences a Bachelor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science.

The scholarship is awarded to the highest-achieving international student, enrolling with the faculty in Monash Australia. It pays for half the tuition fees for the minimum number of credit points needed to complete the degree.

Support for postgraduate-by-coursework students

Monash also offers many postgraduate scholarships and bursaries to students who undertake postgraduate studies by coursework.

Governments at the state/territory and federal level also offer scholarships and support for postgraduate allied-health, nursing and rural-health students, which you should investigate.

Higher degree by research scholarships

If you're interested in studying a full-time masters or PhD research degree with us, you can apply for one of our postgraduate research scholarships, which include non-taxable stipends and a living allowance.

Over 300 such scholarships, and 70 international tuition-paying scholarships, are offered at the selection round that closes on 31 October each year.

Cyril Tonkin Scholarship

If you're a Monash University Bachelor of Pharmacy graduate, you might be eligible for the Cyril Tonkin Scholarship.

Named after Dr Cyril Tonkin, a pharmacist who graduated as a gold medallist from the Victorian College of Pharmacy in 1910, the scholarship provides a stipend to study a higher degree by research. It might also support costs for national or international travel, related to your research studies.
